Our programmes

Our programmes

We aim for a long term change. Our five programmes tackle novel issues, infused with democracies’ dysfunctions that are the backbone of our programmes. These are:

    • Surveillance capitalism;
    • Lack of sustainability;
    • Disregard for rule of law;
    • Citizens’ disempowerment.

We weave projects and initiatives around issues at the heart of our programmes, in order to progress gradually towards our ambitious goals. Our programmes are not monolithic silos. In fact, projects we prioritise often appeal to us because they simultaneously bring together challenges we target.

For instance, we were thrilled to support Frank van der Linde's case because it brings together the need to protect peaceful activists and the environment, at the heart of public debates.

Another example is the Kenyan cases that bring together problematic public-private partnership that violates human rights, most acutely felt on already marginalised communities. Last but not least, a central question of the cases is the use of biometric technology. Biometric technology, like other dual use technologies, proves again and again that despite bringing comfort to privileged individuals, it is often harming ostracised communities.
